A La Crepe (Halal)

Hey Everyone!

Visit #1:

Finally, for my last post of the day! After grilled cheese sandwiches yesterday, we just had to try out the new dessert shop called A La Crepe in Markham, Ontario. Their menu consists of savory & sweet crepes, cakes, gelato, and over 50 flavours of tea. While there, I got the combo deal for the first weekend which included a crepe, pot of tea, and gelato. I chose the chocolate-banana crepe, roobios tea, and pistacio gelato. One friend got the s'mores crepe, chai tea, and chocolate gelato, and the other friend got the fettuccini crepe with cookies & cream gelato, pina colada tea, and mango gelato. I have to admit, we all loved our crepes! The teas were nice, but the best was definitely the roobios because the pina colada was too sour (didn't go so well with the sweet desserts) and the chai tea was too bitter. The gelato was good but pale in comparison to the gelato from downtown Toronto earlier in the week. I would definitely suggest this new modern cafe in Markham.

Visit #2:

So, my brother came home yesterday, so I ended up going to A La Crepe again. I actually really wanted to try a savory crepe but they ran out of chicken (so maybe call them just in case if you plan to go late; I went around 8PM). Anyways, this time I ordered the Gelato Bomb, my brother ordered the S'mores crepe, and my mom ordered a savory one (cannot recall the name at the moment). I actually really liked my crepe this time, it was stuffed fully with vanilla ice cream and strawberries. I wasn't a big fan of the savory crepe my mom got. Also, I still haven't tried the S'mores one even though people around me had it twice already. Anyways, I would definitely recommend both crepes that I have had thusfar. If you want something heavy and chocolatey, then the chocolate-banana I first got would be idea. But, if you want something creamy and fresh, I would suggest the Gelato Bomb.

For teas, this time I tried the White tea (peony flavour), mom tried the mint green tea, and my brother tried the roobios chai. I actually really liked mine because it had a subtle floral taste, whereas the others tasted as they sound.

Finally, for gelato I got the tiramisu flavour this time, mom got the black cherry, and my brother got the cookies & cream one. If you like marachino cherries, you will definitely like the black cherry gelato. Also, if you like tiramisu cake, you will really enjoy this ice cream. However, I was not a huge fan of the little cake pieces in the ice cream, but that's my personal preference. Either ways, two great experiences thusfar. Looking forward to my third visit this summer soon! Hope to hear about your experiences too. Happy eats!

Melt Grilled Cheese (Halal)

Hey Everyone!

Visit #1:

Yesterday, I went to Melt Grilled Cheese in Scarborough, Ontario for a late lunch with a few friends. There, I got the Club sandwich pn whole grain bread and tomato soup. My friends got the Avocado-Chipotle chicken sandwich on sour dough bread and the Shawarma sandwich on white bread with poutine. Overall after trying all three sandwiches, I would definitely recommend the Club sandwich and Avocado-Chipotle on sour dough bread. The Shawarma sandwich was okay, but it just tasted like a shawarma sandwich with cheese on top (little weird). However, the other two sandwiches were great! Not only that, but I think I had the best tomato soup ever there! Their poutine also had real cheese curds, which I find to be rare in a halal restaurant. Regardless, I was very pleased with my choices and would definitely return to try different options. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that wants something different!

Visit #2:

Just went to this restaurant for a second time today. This time I got the Mumbai Express grilled cheese with tomato soup and my brother got the Tattoo Chicken (with grilled chicken) sandwich with The Backstabber poutine. Thusfar, I would have to say that I liked the Avocado-Chiptole sandwich and Chicken Club the best. Happy eats!

Gelato in Downtown Toronto

Hey Everyone!

So, after the burgers, we decided to go have some gelato, but we somehow ended up having gelato twice! The first place we went to was called Kekou Gelato and it had some funky and healthy flavours. I got half a scoop of strawberry-lychee (non-dairy) and half a school of avocado-banana. If you are wanting thick and creamy gelato, this is NOT the place for you, but it is a nice and healthy alternative. The strawberry-lychee was delicious but the avocado-banana was too "banana" for me. If I were to return again, I would get a smaller size and get the guava (amazing!).

The second gelato place was called Dolce Gelato and it was amazing. This location was very convenient after burgers because it was literally across the street. I got half a scoop of Dolce de leche and half a scoop of mango. Both flavours were delicious! The Dolce de leche was very rich and creamy, whereas the mango was nice and tangy. I would definitely return to this location!

The Burgernator (Halal)

Hey everyone!

So, a few days ago I went to The Burgernator in Kensington Market in downtown Toronto, Ontario. The area I would say is a bit "hipster", but the whole street was full of great restaurants. Anyways, I ordered the Atomic burger (image) and shared a side of "Rocket" fries with a friend. The burger had a 6oz beef patty, deep fried cheese (yup... I'm serious, what you see in the image is the cheese under the sauce), and sun-dried tomato aioli, while the fries had a jerk sauce on top and melted cheese. The food was great and it was a nice casual dining experience. I would definitely go back again to try their other concoctions. Give this restaurant a try if you are in the area ever. Happy eats!

Los Chicos Brasa (Halal)

Hey everyone!

It's been a while since I last posted, but just had to return to post about a few restaurants I visited recently. The first one is called Los Chicos Brasa, a Peruvian restaurant in Markham, Ontario. The restaurant is in a newly built plaza and is a little difficult to find from the main road. However, it was well worth the visit! I had gone for a friend's birthday party, but luckily there were only a few of us. The procedure for the place is to order downstairs then they bring the food to you upstairs in their small dining area (I'd say maybe 20 people max occupancy). The food is priced great (even a student special with your student card) and tasted great too! I ordered their 1/4 chicken with 1 side dish (cassava fries) and Peruvian drink (in image) for about $11. The 1/4 piece I got was chicken breast and it was very moist! The cassava fries were a little soggier than I preferred, but they were delicious and complemented the chicken well. The drink was a bit of a disappointment because they had told me it was like chamomile tea, yet it turned out to be like cream soda (not a fan of cream soda). But, regardless of the drink, it was a great meal. I would definitely return to this restaurant again! Hope you all give this new restaurant a chance. Happy eats!

Tea House

Hey everyone!

So, last night a few friends and I went to a restaurant called Tea House in Nevis, W.I. Although the food prices were quite good, the food itself was not too appealing to me. I have to admit, I did get a slight stomach ache (quite like the other Chinese restaurant on the island called Young's). Would I try this place again? Maybe. The prices are quite attractive, and I would not mind trying the sweet and sour fish next time. This time I got the conch with black bean sauce and fried rice. I have to admit, the same dish at Gold Coast (Chinese restaurant across the street) has much better quality and taste! Nonetheless, if you want a lot of food for an affordable price, check this place out. Happy eats!
